Task #1

Task #1
Hi again! Doing my homework on a rainy afternoon! (It's been raining for 12 consecutive days here!!)
I've taken the pics of the objects I use.
In Argentina, we go to big parties, generally some "cotillon" is given to the participants when it is time to dance. The cotillon is as varied as you can imagine and you can bring it home. So, I reuse and recycle it in my classes. I have a huge collection of it but this time I'll show you three of them
1- Colorful necklaces: I use them to do matching pairs; when I hang them, the Ss who has them on have to reply questions or do activities, hand in homework... Or just for fun and imagine we are in Hawaii!
2- A plastic banana (you can use any object, real or plastic): I use it to play "Banana". The idea of the game is to make the student reply questions using the word "banana". If/ When the student laughs, s/he loses the game. Obviously, you have to ask silly questions, like "What's your name? - Banana"; "How old are you? - Banana". I took this idea when I went to the cinema and watch the "Minions". I have tons of plastic bananas with different colors!!!
3- Probably most of you don't know the 3rd item. It is a "sifon". It is a kind of bottle where we (in Argentina) have mineral water with gas in it. We press the handle on the right and the water or "soda" (as we call it) goes our from he tube on the left. When the water comes out, the sound is like the "SH" sound and as you remember it is the sound nurses do in hospitals (I believe most of you have seen a picture of a nurse with her finger in her mouse asking for silence in a hospital). So, I show the "sifon" to my students and they immediately know that it is "Silence time".
As we have started classes one month ago and I still don't have my own place to put all these stuff, I have them at home.
To your knowledge, I have 11 courses in 2 different schools: 8 in a secondary school and 3 in a primary so I don't have my own classroom that's why it is difficult to find one special place only for me. In total I have 350 students per week!
Looking forward to reading from you soon, Maria :)

  3. Hi Maria!
Wow, having 350 students per week does sound like an adventure.

I really enjoyed reading how you use the necklaces, the banana, and the sifon. Transporting learners to imaginary places, humor, and special props bring excitement and engages learners emotionally.

    Hope it stops raining there!
