This is being a very hard week for me.
This is being a very hard week for me. I am doing my practicum, which means that I have to be with a teacher all the time, but she called in sick three weeks ago and has not come back yet. In public school they take a long time to send a replacement, so I have been teaching on my own, so I have been terribly busy preparing activities for each day, but haven't had time to prepare the 5 official sessions that I need to give in the next two weeks, also because there is nobody to officially watch me teaching. I have been exhausted but at the same time terribly worried but yesterday another teacher offered to watch me if my one does not come back next week, which was a huge relief. Anyway I wanted to explain why I haven't been able to visit the community this week until now.
About the photo, the one I would like to post is one that I can't take, because the mother of my private students wouldn't like it. But let me explain the image, please. I give private tuition to two sisters, a 10 and 12 year old. Usually one after the other, but I like to have time with both at the same time. Yesterday I brought a copy of the Little Prince in English, French and Italian (they are Spanish and speak English and French). We read in turns the beautiful dedication in the three languages (exchanging the books) about how adults have forgotten that they were children. It was at the end of the day, and we were lying on the bed with our books and reading together. It was beautiful, they loved it and learned new words and for me it was meaningful learning, but I know the mum would feel uncomfortable if I took a photo, even if you could not see the faces. Can you please accept my description of affective learning? I cannot think of a better one . Muchas gracias:-)

Wow... your story is so sweet!!! I hope we can learn more from your students and how you go on with your classes. I love Little Prince! :)
ReplyDeleteDear Silvia,
ReplyDeleteWe have the image in our minds and that is the objective of the task. I totally understand parents not wanting the image of their children on the internet.
I like very much the moments in which we bring awareness to their learning processes or as you have done to their moment in life.
I wish you can get the support you need to have calmer weeks in the future. The good thing of this course is that you can post later as well.
Sending you the Brazilian warmth!
Thank you very much
