Task # 2

Task # 2
wow... Teaching and Learning English has changed quite a lot since I studied long time ago... probably back with dinosaurs!!!
First of all I studied English outside school (we had French classes at school) so I had to go to a private school. It was awesome as we were a few students and our teachers were nice and patient. I remember all my teachers as I got influence from all of them and they encouraged me a lot.
I think that not many teachers have THE passion to teach these days; most of them do it out of necessity so students learn just the necessary stuff and that is. There is no compromise from any side and learning is done automatically without "affection and care".

  1. I fully agree with you concerning that most teachers have lost the passion to teach, unfortunately that the ugly truth nowadays! I always say that teachers emanates essentially from the heart, love it or leave it! Hopefully, things will change for the better! But to find a solution, experts need to dig deeper into the causes that made teachers give up on theri passion! being under-paid in many countries as well as the poor conditions of public state schools may be part of the problem.

  2. Very interesting that you have brought the concept of passion, Maria.
I found two definitions for passion:
     1. a strong feeling of enthusiasm or excitement for something or about doing something
    2. Strong or powerful emotion

The word passion comes from the Greek word υποφέρω (ypoféro) that means suffer.

I believe we maintain the passion alive when we are open to the connection with students and the pedagogical challenges that arise. When we focus our work on the ways students can learn instead of teaching them in the same way, we are present and alive with them in the classroom. The sad thing is that when teachers are disconnected and alienated from their students and their practice, the environment becomes dead for students.

We get energized with our peers, coordinators, and educational conditions we are offered. We also need to feel valued and able to bring this to our students. Affective learning requires a larger involvement from other school and government departments to boost what we do in the classroom.

How do you suffer when you are creating a learning environment? Everybody can answer!

  3. Hopefully, we can somehow inspire those teachers who have lost THE  passion to bring it back into their teaching!
