Task #2

Task #2

My relationship with English started when I was a little child. My aunt used to listen to songs in English before going to work and I was always by her side trying to sing them. I knew I was singing them in the wrong way, but everybody in family felt that I really love it and had to study that language. But they did not have any money to enroll me in a English language course.

When I was 8, I had my first English class at school. I was so happy that I still remember the book was published by an English course from Brazil (CCAA) and the name of the two characters in it, Bob and Barbara. I still remember my first words in English: plate, glass, fork and spoon.

The name of the teacher was Elizabeth, and she was responsible for teaching me for the following three years. I will never forget her.

As an adult, I had many teachers of English, both at college and at Cultura Inglesa. All of them were very special to me and I keep them in my heart. And now I’m here trying to follow their steps, trying to be a teacher and to be able to inspire other people to learn this language I love so much.

  1. Dear Danielle,

It is very interesting to see how you developed an affective bond with English from your early years. I started learning English when I was eight years old with a book called Jigsaw and the character's name was Fiona.

I believe it is important for us to recall these memories and to take  our students' expectations into account. Verbalizing these is a great way to connect with their inner worlds.

You are certainly inspiring your students. Talk to them about how they feel about their learning and you will be sure about it!

    Hugs from Buddy and me!
