Task 2: English is not my first language.
Task 2: English is not my first language. Back in the school i had a very bad teacher who was aggressive and strict and who used to make fun of the students and their mistakes. She was also racist as she used to treat non Christian kids in a bad way and used to tell us that we would go to hell. I hated the school and the English language and I changed school after 2 years. I was lucky to meet an encouraging teacher who made me fall on love with the language. I worked hard and I excelled. My colleagues in the class started to ask me to help them with the language and I was thrilled to know they could understand my explanation. Since then , English has become my passion and I chose it as my major in university and now my professional for the bast 10 years.
There are 2 major influences in my relationship with the language; an outer influence manifested in teachers and colleagues as well as my family of course, and an inner one clear in my desire to prove I am good at the language in the beginning and then my desire to prove I am exceptional and unique later on.

It is great that your second English teacher was great and had an excellent influence on you.... So, now you are an awesome teacher for your students!
ReplyDeleteHow nice....
Yeah Renata Todorovska. It was like a turning point in my life.
ReplyDeleteI also had similar experience :-)
ReplyDeleteMaha,
ReplyDeleteI am sorry to know that you had that terrible first experience. It with admiration that I hear that you were resilient and together with the support of your family and this very special second teacher.
I am sure these two experiences have made you more concerned with your students' feelings about how they see themselves as learners. Continue sharing your passion!
