Hello!

Hello!
I enjoy the first session!
FOCUS ON TEACHING VS FOCUS ON LEARNING
I strongly believe that if we focus on teaching we will be able to improve learning and if we pay attention on learning will be able to improve teaching. How can we do this?
Teachers must be able to recognize student’s ability and learning style as well the methods that help them learning better. The role of the teacher is to present a plan class that contains fun and appropriate activities according to the age and level. From the beginning of the first class we must be prepare and ready to handle all kind of problems and attitudes. We do not want to "force or to have reluctant students that are not able to work due to our bad direction of class.
I think it is necessary to monitor the student´s response to give them the necessary stimuli. I want my students to feel comfortable to work in teams, individually or in pairs. Also, to work in communicative activities that help to develop their language. I believe if we give the students the necessary tools and support in their learning we will create autonomous students that like learning by themselves.
Abigail,
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful work of art you have shared here. Is it a mandala?
You are very right when you mention the relationship between teaching and learning. By analyzing one we work on the other.
Having a plan, engaging students, and monitoring are essential to quality circle time. It is a moment in which students are invited to share. It's ok if some do not want or do not have anything to share on that day.
You can rephrase in English what your students have said in Spanish carrying out a conversation with them. Soon you will be using more and more English and they will start inserting English words in their discourse.
Last, I like the idea of exploring different formats during circle time. It is good to have the routine with some variations.
You are certainly in the right direction, Abigail!
